Staff & Welfare Inspector: build a syllabus-based study plan

RuleMithra ·

Start with the notification for the specific selection you intend to take. Southern Railway's Staff & Welfare Inspector preparation page links its source syllabus; use that document to set the boundaries of your study plan.

Build a topic checklist Turn each syllabus heading into a row in your notes. Beside it, record the official manual or circular, the relevant chapter, your revision date and any unresolved question. Keep the original heading visible so that a large question bank does not distract you from uncovered subjects.

Read, then practise Read a manageable section of the source material before attempting questions on it. After checking an answer, explain the reasoning in your own words. Pay particular attention to qualifications and exceptions: a statement may be true only for a defined category or circumstance.

Keep amendments visible Maintain a separate list for provisions involving eligibility, time limits, monetary amounts and changes in law or rules. An older official question bank is useful preparation material, but its answer still needs to be checked against the rules applicable to your selection.

Use a weekly review Review your checklist before scheduling another mock. Give priority to unstudied syllabus headings and repeated errors. Treat a high score in a familiar topic as one part of preparation, not evidence that the entire syllabus is covered.
